The U12s kicked off their Waterfall (Lancashire Cup) campaign on Sunday with a comprehensive 30-0 victory over Vale of Lune.
The day was hosted by PGH and was originally meant to include matches against both Tarleton and Vale Lune, but with the former pulling out – unable to field a team – and no other teams keen on challenging Wigan for an extra friendly match, it left just the one game, with the squad struggling through a gruelling, punishing, lung-busting average of 10.1 minutes each on the pitch…..
Jack H and Henry took the Man of The Match awards for outstanding performances, but it could have been any one of the squad as they as they out-rucked, out-tackled, out-ran, out-passed, and even out-ate their opponents at the food truck after the game.
Tries came from George, Harry B, Harry H, Jack H, Johnny, and Max, with Alexander G and Benito running and tackling well and unlucky not to score themselves.
Also good, solid performances in and around the ruck from Fin, Wilson, Will, Ollie, Josh, Matthew, Alexander O and Rugby Union debutant Ben.
Take-aways from this match:
10 out of the 10 for the post-match food.
2 out of 10 for the weather.
Mick Chappell needs an underwater pad and pen to keep score legibly and possibly a full diving suit (NB: Nick, check in your dressing-up box)
