Super Wigan defy the weather.

Players: Nathan, both Patricks, Alex, Harris, Daniel, Brandan, Harry, Connor, Ross, Chris

Weather: the floods had subsided

Pitch: Brilliantly irrigated

In a week where Arcs were being built and animals lining up in twos, Coach Butler managed to find us a fixture on the only pitch in England that wasn't submerged. Brilliant. It was worth it though as the boys produced one of their best performances ever to crush a decent Ashton on Mersey team. Each player brought their "A game" and the tries rained in.

Two games were played (or four halves depending on how you look at it) and we ran out winners 11-4. In a game were everyone played brilliantly it was going to take some performance to stand out and Harris did just that. He was international class. In defence he rushed and hustled Ashton into mistakes whilst in attack they couldn't stop him. He scored four excellent tries and well deserved the Man of the Match trophy. Harris was backed up by some amazing performances from Alex (who set up tries and passed brilliantly), Daniel (who looked dangerous in attack all morning) and Nathan (who was his usual effervescent self). A word too about Connor who picked up brilliantly where he had left off before his injury.

All the boys worked hard throughout. There were no missed tackles. The ball wasn't flung backwards wildly. Passes were deliberate and accurate. And no-one "switched off". It was just about the best all-round effort for a few seasons.

The season has been a bit disjointed through weather and injury and this gives the team something to build on going into the new year.
