Another dominant display from the high flying 14s.

Under 14’s win again!!

Wigan U14’s travelled to Broughton RUFC on a cold but sunny morning in South Manchester, both teams bowed their heads for a minutes silence to remember the fallen not a sound was heard, As the whistle blew you could see Wigan was up for the fight, which started on the 6th minute from his 5 tries last week Ryan Wood started the points tally, a try of speed and weaving in and out of defenders the ball collected in the Wigan half Ryan ran through 4 tackles to place the ball on the Broughton try line and the conversion just wide of the post from Brook Waterworth.

The game went both ways after the try a couple of knocks on from each team but Wigan with the most of the possession and drives and in the 12th minute Ryan a pass from Will Kennedy after winning back possession sent the pass back to the middle collected by Ryan to go over for his second of the day and brook adding the extras 12-0 Wigan.

The Wigan team display was fantastic team work and commitment in tackles was great to watch which made the 3rd try a tackle in the Wigan half by Eddie and Toby-lee made Broughton knock on and with Wigan in possession Ben Bradshaw went over the line and helping Brook to a conversion in front of the stick and successfully adding the extras, Score Wigan 19 – 0 Broughton,

It only took 4 minutes until Wigan went over the line again a try scored by Kyle Atherton using his speed and skill to run past Broughtons defence and running the full half with Broughtons defenders trying to catch the pacey Kyle they had no chance again this left Brook a kick in front of the sticks and again converting to making the score 26-0 on the referees whistle for half time,

Wigan came out at second half still looking for more points and it wasn’t long until Ryan Wood got his hat trick for the 2nd consecutive match helped by the team passing which this week was the best passing I’ve seen, which won the plaudits from Jon and Ian after the match, The ball was passed down the deep line which I think every player in a black shirt touched the ball coming back in to the middle for Ryan who skipped past 2 defenders and over the line unfortunately Brook couldn’t find the sticks and was just short on a bad angle,

It wasn’t long until the 6th try went in and a double helpings for Kyle Atherton again with a fast straight run at the line came through, Man of the Match Eddie Thompson who bossed the scrums all morning making it hard for the Broughton players to match his strength helping Wigan win most of the scrums. Icing on the cake was a ball that was won again in the scrum passed in to the centre and Kyle latching on to the pass and helping Brook with an easy kick to secure the extras,

Brooks points didn’t stop there helping himself to a try a long pass Ben to charge over the line but leaving himself with a difficult kick that went just wide of the post, The final score Wigan RUFC 43-0 Broughton RUFC,

Final Words: This display was up there as one of the best this season a few mentions for Man of the match including Will and Toby but Eddie just pinched it and a failed Pringle test of 5 minutes was disappointing, but the team as a whole can enjoy this faultless performance until Thursday, Well played lads on to Sunday where we all know you can do it now...
