With the coaches desperate for a tough run out, LSH did not disappoint.

Wigan were knocked off their rhythm in the early exchanges with the bigger LSH pack proving a handful. Fortunately for Wiigan they had Tom P at the base of scrum, playing like 'Neil Back'. On 4mins he showed his grit and determination to power through half of LSH's forwards to put Wigan ahead.Following which Wigan went to sleep in the forwards to allow Liverpool in for 2 unanswered tries. Wigan though did not panic and continued to press with Luke, Tom S and Oliver taking Wigan forward. In the forwards Max. Louis and Jacob held their own against bigger opposition on the narrow pitch that was getting heavier under foot. Half time and Wigan we're losing 14-7. Words of wisdom and encouragement from coach Parker was "don't panic, forwards wake up", clearly worked. The back line thwarted every attack from lsh, Danny in particular looking after his opposite number, backed up as ever by his 'minder' mate Tom P. Good work in the forwards with Kyle, Harry and Corey led to a lineout which Jack rolled off to bulldoze his way over. Conversion Harry and it's 14 apiece with all to play for. From the restart, Wigan maintained the pressure with good drives from Luke and deft handling from Louis,Joss and Tom S took Wigan in to LSH's half. A weaving run from Will, resulted in a late tackle and subsequent penalty which with instructions to 'run it', a forward drive provided clean ball for Tom to move the backs left, with the ball going through numerous pairs of hands for Mack to squeeze over and put Wigan in front.
With 3 mins to go, Wigan let the kick off go in to touch resulting in a 5metre line which jack tidied up but had the ball turned over due to a lack of support. Numerous penalties followed for LSH, but Wigans defence remained resolute. With the refs call of 'last play' Wigans back line pressured their opposite numbers to force a knock on and final whistle.
FT Wigan 21 - LSH 14.
The game was a tough encounter but Wigans defence was key to the win, particularly the backs who do not normally get the praise.
MOM - BIG MAC 3try hero on the day, with the last one the most important.
