The u12 Cumbrian tour finally came round, following the freak weather 12 months ago.

After all the careful planning the u12 tour party went up to Cumbria for a weekend of team bonding, fun and more importantly rugby. With the team travelling up on Friday night the preparation could not have been better. Saturday morning started with a team breakfast and following which the lads gathered for a passionate speech from coach Seabrook. The content of Mr Seabrooks pre match speech brought lumps to the throats and tears to the eyes of the adults, until Des's front tooth fell out !

A coach journey followed to Kendal which proved painful for the scribe and the U12 players and coaches; particularly the behaviour of 'club clown' Phil who was like a kid who had eaten his own body weight in haribos.

On to the game , after a brisk warm up the lads were ready for KO, with the exception of Louis who was feeling unwell. Kendal asked for the game to be played 15 aside on a full size pitch, which coach Parker duly accepted. With Kendal kicking off Wigan despite off poorly, lack of communication saw Kendal reclaim the ball and attack Wigan from the off. Strong defence from Wigan saw ball turned over, the ball went wide and the result was an early try for Danny. Conversion missed. From the KO a good take from Sam, drives from Jack, Max and Brad allowed Tom P to get the backs moving slick hands from the entire attack and further recycled ball allowed Tom P to finish off the move. Conversion missed.

Despite the size of the huge Kendal pack Wigan pushed the opposition off 90 percent of their own ball at the scrum. The dominance of the pack allowed Tom P to show his class. As the eventual MOM, Tom orchestrated the back line and finished the game with a hat -trick of tries, the latter of which was a 60 metre solo effort.

Wigan finished the game with 11tries in an all round team performance. Running the ball at every opportunity, Wigan outclassed their Cumbrian opposition who had no answer to Wigans power, pace and skill. Scorers for Wigan were Tom P 3, Mack 3,Corey 2, Eli 1, Danny 1, Luke 1. The skills on show were a joy to watch for the huge travelling party who showed their appreciation of the all round performance.

Let's keep the momentum through to the finals day, and see this excellent season off in style. Well done lads, putting Wigan Juniors on the rugby map.
