Wigan came away with a very well deserved and hard earned victory against local rivals Tyldsley despite being without Corrie, Christian, Joss, Louis and Jacob - showing the strength in depth of this squad and the resilience and sheer will to win of the team.
It was a bright start from Wigan with Tom P crossing for an early try but going on to miss the conversion. A second try followed shortly after by Luke and converted by Harry and at that point wigan looked like they would run away with it.
However as the half closed - Tyldsley stuck at it and eventually got themselves on top and their efforts were rewarded with a converted try and at half time Wigans 12 - 7 advantage was looking precarious.
Tyldsley started the second half as they finished the first and it was only through some strong defence that thwarted Tyldsley taking a lead.
A length of the field breakaway try by Oliver - got wigan off the hook and they went onto finish the game as they began it and final tries by Sam and Will made for a final scoreline that flattered Wigan.
Apologies if i have the scorers wrong (you can tell me at training and i'll alter the stats) - i did my best to remember under the strain of a self imposed headache! Thankfully Chris Marsh will be back next week to keep a more accurate record of events!!
Special mention must go to Tom P who was again pivotal at scrum half, Will had a fantastic game - catching some tricky high alls and always looking dangerous on the counter attack. Jack and Max were both rocks at the hart of the Wigan defence but.........
MOM deservedly goes to Oliver - for an outstanding all round performance - capped by an incedible length of the field interception.
