Despite numerous late cry offs and coach 'Floreline' Parker on a cultural trip to Dusseldorf the U12s win on the road.

Wigan arrived at Southport with a sparse 13, following numerous cry off due to injury and sickness. To make up the numbers the mighty pocket battleship Oliver Morgan was drafted in from the U10s. Southport had the comfort of a healthy squad of 30 players therefore the games were split in to two 20 minute games.

Game 1 - Southport 14 Wigan 28

In the first game Wigan were slow to get off the mark, and decided to sit back and see what the big Southport side could go, particularly the 6ft centre who was causing havoc and scored an early try. After a ticking off from the coach Morgan, Wigan responded with a typical Kyle try, skittling the opposition on his way to the line. Wigan now found their confidence, with the backline in particular always dangerous, but the worlds smallest pitch hindered the slick back line of Harry, Oliver, Joss, Will , ELi & Mack. Therefore the forwards took the impetus. Great defence and support from LOuis & Jacob allowed Christian to power over in the corner. This was followed from the kick off when good hands from Luca, Sam, Louis & Jacob allowed Christian to grab his second try. A slight lapse in defence allowed Southport in for a second but Wigan were always in control in the second half. The inside backs of Hary, Oliver and Will provided ample ball to Eli and Mack who caused problems for the Southport defence. The final play of the game resulted in a classic try with, Wigan winning a scrum against the head (well in Sam) and the ball zipped along the back line for Mack to squeeze in at the corner. Great win.

MOM - Christian.

Game 2 - Southport 7 Wigan 7

The lack of subs began to take its toll as Wigan came across another set of fresh players. However, Harry rallied his troops with his usual gusto, told everyone to roll up their sleeves and they did. Wigan for a change got off to a flyer, from the kick off, a clean catch from Kyle and he went through the entire Southport defence - to score a classic individual try. The rest of the game was non stop with both sides throwing everything at each other, but could not score. Louis,Jacob, Christian worked tireleslly in defence, while the back line again had the upper hand.Eli & Mack were inches away from scoring after breaks up the wing. Special mention goes to the Roberts twins who pulled off 2 great tackles one after the other with Kendo Nagasaki Eli, throwing his opposite number in to touch and almost flattening his mother Jayne who was nursing another hangover. As per the first game a lapse in concentration allowed Southport to level. However with minutes on the clock, wigan threw everything at Southport. Cometh the hour, cometh the pocket rocket ! - up steps 'lil Oliver Morgan' jinking his way through the Southport defence to be stopped just short of the try line. However the victory was alluded, but the TEAM performance was the result in what was a pulsating game.

MOM for game 2 Luca & Oliver (Team players).
