The 3 teams representing the club held their own against the considered bigger Lancashire and Cheshire clubs. Match reports will follow, but the Wigan sides showed how far they have developed in the last three years and were absolute credit to the club. Mention must go to Lee's u7s who shared the honours in the Plate Final with local rivals Warrington.
Many thanks to Peter Rogers for bringing the newly sponsored gazeebo which provided an ideal shelter during the wet conditions. Thanks must go to Mrs Hulme, Mr & Mrs Leonard et al for bbqing throughout the tournament and keeping the players fed. Apparently the smoke upset some of the opposition, but I reckon it was jealousy on their part because of the excellent facilites set up at Base Camp Wigan. Rumour has it there was a mini bar at the back of the gazeebo but Mrs Morgan, Mrs Barker and Mrs Rogers hid it behind the tackle shields.
Finally a big thank you to the parents who supported the teams throughout.
PS - is it about time Wigan organised their own tournament ?
PPS - apologies for the outburst from myself, Mike and Greg regarding a certain referees size and fitness level. We are normally very reserved.
