Great comeback to finish the season

A beautiful bank holiday Sunday in York for the last game of a remarkable season.

York started the game with intent and despite some good defence from Wigan and ovcasional promising attack, York kept up the pressure and were rewarded after 19 mins with an unconverted try to lead 5-0.
York kept up the pressure and were rewarded 6 mins later and this time scored under the posts to extend their lead to 12-0 which the held until half time.
Wigan hadn’t really hit full tilt after a head and eventful week along with the sleep deprivation that goes with the first night of a tour, and things didn’t improve 10 minutes into the second half when York were through again to extend their lead to a deserved 19-0.
Things weren’t looking good going into the final quarter without a score but a good bit of pressure from Wigan saw a back move to Isaac who brilliantly touched down in the left corner. A equally brilliant conversion from Joss reduced the arrears to 19-7.
7 minutes later Xander powered over in the right corner, Joss again slotting what looked a harder effort. 19-14 with about 5 to go. Wigan had finally found their mojo. A pass to Sam C didn’t quite go to plan, but some mercurial footwork and turn of speed saw him skip through the York defence to score under the posts much to his team and Wigan supporters delight.
A relatively simple conversion by Joss’ standards still had to be dispatched and he duly did so to hear the final whistle.
