A crisp morning saw us welcoming Rochdale RUFC to the Valley
Only able to field 14 the home side were set a challenge to maintain their 100 percent record in the cup this season.
Things started well as Toby scored after backing up a good break from Kieron R and then Logan scoring an opportunist try taking a quick penalty from the half way line. Logan converting the latter Wigan soon up 12-0 after 5 minutes.
Rochdale then got one back after 14 minutes after a kick and chase.
Logan again starred in the next two trys after 19 and 23 mins, converting both of them top leave Wigan looking comfortable at 26-5.
Wigan then switched off to allow Rochdale in just before half time to reduce the deficit to 26-12.
Rochdale came back into it in the second half but Wigan seemed to restore the lead with a great try from Samson to take the score to 31-12.
The rest of the half saw Wigan capitulate and let Rochdale in for 3 trys to take the spoils despite having one of their players binned. Rochdale deserved the win for their tenacity but Wigan were subdued and rolled over far to easily, admittedly we were a few short but I believe there was the ability there to have put that one away.
Put that one behind and move on!
Final score 31-33
