With our rugby league colleagues away wasting their time elsewhere Wigan welcomed a development team from Wythenshawe RUFC. Wigan fielded a team from twelve of the U14s and nine of the U15s.
Wythenshawe fielded 13 players and with one of them unfortunately injured early on their team featured 3 Wigan players for most of the match so thanks to Christian, Farwaz and Xander in the first half and to Ben, Corry & Harry in the second for that.
The match was a bit one sided score wise but proved a useful run out for both teams. The U14s gained valuable experience of the step up in physicality in the forwards and speed throughout but gave a good show of their skills.
The score doesn’t really credit how well Wythenshawe performed. They had two or three really good players who kept the Wigan defence on their toes.
Too many tries to describe individually but good play and support earned tries for Joe (3), Sam L, Cory (2), Riven, Ben, Lewis, Isaac, Farwaz & Christian. Tries converted and missed by Will & Joss.
Final Score Wigan 76 - 0
Another good display from the Wigan boys. Experience will come in useful for the cup match next weekend against Leigh.
Keep up the hard work and continue to improve.
