Wigan made the retrun fixture to Ashton looking for a double over their opponents.

Missing inspirational Captain Harry, Wigan travelled away with only 11 players. Fortunately Ashton struggling with injuries only had 9 players, therefore the game was played 9 aside.

The early play ebbed and flowed with both sides finding the sticky pitch a hindrance to open rugby. With Wigan dominating the line outs and scrums thanks to Louis, Kyle and Sam, it was a surprise when Ashton scored against the run of play. However Wigan immediately responded with a strong run from Sam to score, brushing off numerous defenders. Slack Wigan tackling led to Ashtons second and final try of the game, but Joss responded before half time to amke the scores level with William slooting both conversions.

In the second half Wigan were a different proposition, running the ball at every opportunity. Jacob playing in the unaccustomed position of centre was a revelation, and made great yards everytime he got the ball. One of Jacobs 30m runs led to a try in the corner. With Kyle, Sam and Brad winning ball for Wigan and Mack making numerous turnovers, William controlled play at stand off. A break by Mack in his own half was off loaded to Brad who found Eli 10m from the Ashton line, who stepped his way through the defence to score. Further scores came from Kyle and Brad, with both scores coming from excellent teamwork. Mention must go Louis and William who put in some great defensive work, with the former prominent in the line outs.

MOM - Jacob - proving second row forwards can play in the backs.
