After numerous weeks of inclement weather, Wigan eventually made the trip to Fylde to test themselves against Fylde and Vale of Lune.

Game 1 Fylde 0 Wigan 0
In the first game Wigan encountered a bulky Fylde team with the opposition having a superior weight and height ratio. Not to be outdone Wigan adopted there usual free flowing team rugby, throwing the ball wide at every opportunity. As ever Josh, Harry and Mack always looked dangerous with the ball in hand. Debutant and recent recruit George, played in his unaccustomed position of hooker, and had a stormer. Eventually winning the MOM for the day, Wigan's new generation of 'Peter Topping Topps'was at every breakdown ensuring clean ball for the backs. In defence Jacob, Kyle and Jacob (2) were outstanding, and were up in the faces of the Fylde attack. With Wigan having 75% of the possession, the team did everything but score with some deft handling from Oliver,Eli and Will. To summarise this was a great team performance and on any other day Wigan would have had a hatful of tries. The 7.5 min format of each half would not normally suit the team, but today they were first out the blocks.

Game 2 Wigan 0 Vale of Lune 1 try.
After the excitement of the first game, the second game was turned out to be 15 mins of scrummaging practice. Wigan were again outweighed by the bigger Vale pack, but as ever Kyle and Jacob with George, Sam Brad and Louis in support refused to take a backward step. Rather furustratingly for Wigan, when the ball did get out to the backs, they were hindered by the narrow pitch. In the end a try against the run of play was scored by Vale following a knock on 5 metres from the Wigan line. With 2 mis remaining on the clock, a great kick form Harry resulted in a near score for Oliver who was ankle tapped 1 metre from the line. Despite the best efforts, Vale kciked the ball in to touch and the ref blew the whistle.

A great effort from the team with maybe a need for some scrummage practice, although we will not be turning the team in to a pack of lumbering forwards with no handling ability.
