Straight from the kick-off Leigh showed they were up for the game and with some impressive tactical kicking they had Wigan on the back foot and causing confusion in defence. This lead to Leigh so ring a well worked try which was quickly added by another.
Wigan tried to regroup with encouragement from Rhys but continued to be pushed back by a very quick defensive line buy Leigh. This however lead to James kicking the ball down the pitch to safety and Ryan speeding down the line to pick it up and run the ball the rest of the way to score Wigan's first try.
Wigan with this seamed to find some momentum and began to put numbers in the breakdown. However another moment of kicking caught Wigan out and Leigh added a third.
Then just before the half time whistle Wigan's breakdown work paid off for Oliver to sneak in to get one back.
In the second half Leigh capitalised on some Wigan indisision from the ko to score straight away. Wigan got more front foot after this but continued to try and push the ball over the line, but when the other team is bigger and we'll set up defensively it came to no avail.
Leigh scored twice more after this making the score 10-30.
However with the game gone Wigan finally began to pass the ball out and looked dangerous with ball in hand especially Will Kennedy who made meters on the left wing. This led to a moment of magic from Jack who spotted a gap and clipped the ball over the top for James to run onto and score.
This lifted wigan who finished the game strongly and nearly went over in the corner again passing it out and with a cross field kick again by Jack.
However Leigh held out to win.
