With late withdraws Wigan took the coastal trip to Southport short in both numbers and size. Southport had enough players for more than two teams and due to Gaius forgetting his gum shield we borrowed from Southport for the first game. On a mini pitch which added the hosts Wigan struggled to get there passing game going and lost possession in the contact regually. Despite this Liam and Ryan on there debutes added a great defensive effort which turned into a great individual try from Ryan, who danced his way the length of the pitch.
Southport relied with a try though bad defending but held on till half time.
Southport when brought there other team on who were bigger than the first and Wigan started brighter after some harsh words from the coaches. All the boys decided to complete at the breakdown and another moment of magic from Ryan produced what ended up a match winning try.
As the game came to a close Jack went over in the corner after some great work again from Lucca, only for the referee to disallow the try but unable to give a reason why.
Another great team display especially in defence.
