Now that the recent heat wave has ended it was back to business for Wigan RUFC’s youngest travelling to Orrell. The U7/8’s looking to bounce back into winning ways from the friendly but tough away fixture with Bury.
It was good to see the team putting into practice the lessons learnt at an excellent midweek training session, helping the youngsters focus on running with the ball, passing at speed and engaging in defensive positional play.
Exciting end to end play allowed us to recognise some brilliant running by Archie, Oliver, Gaius, Joe and Tyrese. William was exceptional in defensive play, being in the right place, at the right time, allowing him to snatch countless Orrell tags.

William took the Man of the match trophy as Wigan RUFC U7/8’s tackling machine.
Thanks must go to Orrell for hosting an excellent game, and putting up a well organised team. Today’s match was both competitive and fun. It was an enjoyable experience for all concerned, players, coaches and parents alike.
