Wigan U9's Travel to Tarleton

Having had the opportunity to kick off early, it meant an early rise for many of the players and parents. Both arriving rather blurry eyed, the players met at 9.15 at a sunny, dry and rather warm Tarleton ground. Having experienced polar opposite conditions at their last gathering, both sides looked ready to enjoy favourable conditions for rugby.

With the Wigan players eager to start on a widened and lengthened pitch (after some discussions between coaches) the game commenced. Wigan took to the attack from the outset and never looked back. With some fantastic passing and movement, the players graced the lush green grass (and in places a little mud!) to post early tries and set the pace of the game for the remaining 3 quarters.

With their usual defensive display on show, their was little opportunity for Tarleton to gain territory as tackle after tackle restricted much of their attacking plays. Having forced the handover on many occasions, Wigan took to attacking mode and again used space across the pitch to advance and with their usual clinical passing, posted some fantastic tries. Tarleton continued to dig deep with some great individual running, testing the Wigan defence. As usual though Wigan's defensive display relished the opportunity and proved too strong, coupled with a clinical attacking display, Wigan posted another convincing win much to the delight of their spectators.

With an early lunch consumed, the players waiting patently on the local playground. Having managed to round them up (not an easy job - similar to herding cats!) the awards were announced. Having played well all game with his usual strength, speed and determination the Parent's award was presented to Tom C much to the delight of his coach and Dad! Again having many to choose from, the Coach's award went to Jacob F for his determination with ball in hand. Having ran with distinction all morning, taking many Tarleton players with him, his recent run of form was worth of recognition and the award.

Another great win, well done everyone.
