U8's See Their Team-Mate Off in Style

On a cold, wet and wintry Sunday morning, Wigan's U8's made the long trip north, up the M6 to Lancaster, to face Vale of Lune. Despite the wet weather, Wigan started the first game with their usual fast pace, scoring early tries to take a convincing lead. A lead that would not be lost despite at times some spirited attack from VOL.

With ball in hand, Wigan's players continually attacked the VOL line with some fantastic running, scoring some great tries. Each and every player stood strong in defence and with their usual pressure, the Wigan players took tag after tag to press back the VOL attacking line and restrict their options.

Fielding only 6 players, due to illness, Wigan's young guns never took their foot off the gas with everyone crossing the line. However on what would be his last game for Wigan (or at least for 12 months), Sam captained his team superbly, leading from the front to take the team to another convincing win and the coveted MOM award.

Back in the club house, the players gathered round to present Sam with a his no.5 Wigan shirt, which they had all signed as a memento.

It goes without saying that everyone will miss him both on and off the pitch. A big thank you also goes to his Dad, Steve who also coaches the team. We wish you and the family all the best for the future with your move to Italy.

From all the players, coaches and parents!!!
