Wigan U8's Continue On Winning Way

Having impeccably observed the minutes silence on Remembrance Sunday, Wigan's U8's took to the field against a Bury team swelled by numbers - enough to field 2 teams each with subs. A testament no doubt to the great facilities and coaching staff Bury have.

Despite the obvious mismatch of squad sizes, Wigan showed strength and determination to dominate both games/teams with some decisive running and attack which produced some length of the field tries. A pleasure to witness for the loyal fans who made the long journey North of Manchester.

With numbers low, due to several injuries and unavailables, the team propped up by Joe played both games at a high pace which Bury were never able to match. Each and every player stood up to the challenge and competed tirelessly to dominate throughout.

With his usual pace and ferocity Sam (despite a late fitness test) pressed the Bury line to create and score several tries. Both Tom and Zak showed their usual instinct to step in and out of the defence to grace the whitewash with several length of the field tries. Standing strong in central defence was Rhys, who time and time again imposed pressure on the Bury line resulting in several handovers which enabled Wigan to maintain their attack. In making only his second appearance, following his transfer from football, Jacob continued to impress with some graceful runs and sublime passing.

The days plaudits however went justifiably to our youngest player Joe. He continued to impress all morning gathering tag after tag, many from players literally twice his size, to secure the coveted award of the MOM and no doubt bragging rights at home this week!
