Wigan U8's got their season off to a flyer, with convincing wins against two Fylde teams in what proved to be a sunny afternoon for rugby. With the glorious sunshine warming the parent's heart, their little darlings took to the Fylde's 1st team pitch to put on a show of wonder. With numerous tries scored in both games, each any every player crossed the whitewash to add some funds to their pocket money. I'm informed it's £1 a try!!
Filled with confidence and good conditions the ball was passed rhythmically between the hands, resulting in some sublime tries especially given this was the first game of the season.
In addition to the Fylde fixtures, Blackburn RFU also attended, no doubt drawn by the chance to be near the sea on a Sunny Sunday, and proved great opposition in what was to be a closer game having also won their games against Fylde. Both teams showing great attack and skill to keep the game flowing end to end however Wigan ran out eventual winners to make it a clean sweep.
As was the case for many Sundays last season, the decision on the MOM was close with every player in contention, but the accolade went to Tom for his all round game as time after time he showed fantastic skill in beating the defence to cross the line.
Well done everyone, lets hope this is the start of another great season.
