This Sunday, coach Nick led a small group of Wigan U9s through no man’s land (Billinge), past the gun towers and border-guards, and deep into enemy territory to face West Park St Helens.
It was pre-expected to be more of a development match than a fully competitive game – given the inexperience of the West Park team, and right from the outset Wigan scored a try each time they touched the ball, coming out as 15 – 4 winners by the end of the game.
Kian – voted Man of The Match – was the day’s top try scorer, closely followed by Finlay, who also shone with his passing and tackling, and Noah who, as usual, was impassable with his tackling.
The triplets continued where they left off last week, with Jack ending up as top passer, Tom as top tackler, and Sam contributing to a comfortable win with some good runs and tackles.
Wilson touched the ball twice, and scored twice, only to then have his wings cruelly clipped by coach/dad. He did however then channel his efforts into impressing with the other aspects of his game.
Not a big test for the lads, but at least it didn’t rain and it got them away from playing Fortnite for a few hours.
