A Test Against Tydesley, And Alex Passes

A bit depleted on numbers this week, Wigan Under 9s continued their impressive start to tackle-rugby by winning a close game against a strong running Tyldesley team.

During the pre-match warm up the boys seemed in ‘high spirits’ which can only mean it had been a full moon the night before, they were excited about no school the next day, or possibly their Coco Pops had been laced with extra E-numbers. But whatever the reason, they were a little less focused on the match than they usually are, and Tyldesley started off looking like the better team.

The Wigan lads soon rallied though, and three tries from this season’s top scorer Sonny, a try each from Oliver and Max – who also matched each other tackle for tackle, and tries from the strong running Will and Kian meant Wigan finished eventual winners 7 – 4.

Sam had his best game of the season with some impressive runs and tackles, and Jack and Tom also worked hard against some of the best players they’ve faced so far.

Lukus, who would play every single second of every single game if he was given the chance, was as eager as ever, and made ground each time he got the ball, whilst Harry continued where he left off last week by taking the straight-line approach towards the try line, carry opposition players with him.

And finally, a special mention to Alex – who was asked to take the scrum half role and did so diligently, ending up with most passes for the match: an outstanding twenty-five!

A good win. And not as wet as last week.
