Under 9's is the first age group where the children move from tag to tackle – so it’s the first taste of contact rugby for most.

At Wigan RUFC, we have experienced, qualified coaches who assist our players with this transition by instructing and demonstrating correct techniques, and thus ensuring they build up their confidence in an enjoyable and safe environment at both training and on matchdays.

As kids develop at different speeds, we also identify individual areas of personal development, and work on core skills to help them progress as young rugby players.

We are always looking for new players, and welcome novices and kids from other sports who fancy trying their hand at Rugby Union, and as Rugby Union is renowned for its social events, at Wigan we follow suit, and have numerous daytime and nocturnal events throughout the year for both kids and adults alike.

Training is on Wednesdays between 18:30 and 19:30, and matches are on Sunday mornings, usually with a 11:00 kick off.
