This weekend we very sadly lost a long standing club member, ex player and friend to all.
David/Taff/Taffy started his rugby journey at Wigan in the 1970's, firstly playing junior rugby before progressing to colts and then on to senior rugby in his late teens.
Taff played in promotion and cup winning sides throughout the 80's and 90's as well as representing Lancashire Colts. He also had a spell on the Lancashire Colts Coaching Team.
Taff was a key member of the team in the famous win at Orrell when he chipped in with a sensational try.
After retiring from Rugby, Taff found another love, the Lake District. He enjoyed biking, fell running canoeing and walking. He was a founder of the famous Lakeland 50 and Lakeland 100 runs, planning routes for each race.
Taff was often found on the sidelines at Douglas Valley, with his good friends Cyril, Rowly and Darren. He could be called upon for a sensible word regarding rugby or any topic of choice.
In 2024 Taff joined the procession to Twickenham to watch his beloved club compete in the National Cup Final. A day he would describe as one of the best moments of his life.

Taff will be missed by his many friends and all associated with Wigan RUFC. The side of the dugout will never be quite the same.
