Sonny Shines For Under 9s

Perfect rugby conditions at Douglas Valley saw Wigan under 9s play their second match of the season, and although the home side dominated throughout and completed a 15 tries to 4 victory, Ormskirk showed great spirit and resolve to bag a few tries in the latter stages.

The most encouraging aspects of the day were the handling, continuity with offloads and especially the tackle technique - which was very impressive.

Henry and George continued to show great skill in offence and also defence, whilst Noah's confidence goes from strength to strength earning the Coaches' Player Of The Match award.

Sonny - star of the show - was individually brilliant as usual and Wilson completed a sensational 18 tackles to top the count. Special mention also for the 2 enforcers in the middle - Will & Archie - who were menacing as a defensive pair, and Archie's 50 metre burst through the line to score was a memorable effort.

The triplets again chipped in with good contributions - notably Sam, who provided most assists along with the jack-in-a-box Lukus.

Benito also chipped in with 2 tries, including a long ranger that his dad could only ever dream about.

This was a most rewarding performance for the coaches as we looked like a cohesive team in long periods.

Finally, the referee Mr.Beale was in fine form with the whistle, keeping his composure despite calls for "gerrum onside" and "that's high again ref" from a bumper crowd.
